A video clip has spread on social media showing Israeli occupation soldiers playing the piano in a house in the town of Khiyam in southern Lebanon, with the claim that the house is of artist Julia Boutros, “The Israeli army destroys the house of artist Julia Boutros in the city of Khiyam and the occupation soldiers play the piano that she loved.”

One of the sources of the claim

Kashif verified the information and found it to be misleading. Through a reverse search via the “Google Image” tool, Kashif found that the house where the Israeli occupation soldiers were located in was Julia Ali’s family home.

The Observatory contacted Sophie Boutros, sister of artist Julia Boutros, who explained that her sister Julia does not own a house in the town of Khiam in southern Lebanon.

“Julia Ali” also posted on her Instagram account “Juliaali1” a composite video on 3/11/2024, in which she appears in the first clip playing the piano in her home, and in the second clip Israeli soldiers playing on her piano. She mentions that the house belongs to her family in a post that read: “Watching the place I called home turn to rubble is a pain too deep for words. This wasn’t just walls and a roof; this was years of my family’s dreams, sacrifices, and love built into a sanctuary. Now, to see invaders wondering through it, mocking it, touching the piano where I once poured my heart into every note… it feels like they’re trampling on pieces of my soul.”
