Accounts on “X” published a picture of a person inside a car being interviewed by Lebanese channel “MTV”, claiming that he is calling for the expulsion of Hezbollah from Lebanon. The picture was accompanied by the following text: “A Lebanese displaced shouts: Expel Hezbollah and its followers from our country so that we can enjoy peace and Lebanon can rise again”.

One source of the claim

Kashf Observatory verified the claim by searching with the “Google images” tool and found it to be misleading. The image was taken from a video clip published by the “MTV” channel via its account on the Instagram platform “ MTV Lebanon News ”, today, Tuesday 9/24/2024, accompanied by the following text: “A heavy wave of displacement from areas witnessing Israeli raids and one of the displaced people screams.”

The interview is broadcast on the “MTV Lebanon News” Instagram account.

Upon reviewing the interview with the displaced Lebanese, Kashif’s team found that he did not call for the expulsion of Hezbollah from Lebanon and did not mention the party at all. The interview came in the following form:

– Displaced man: We have been in a mess since yesterday. Since yesterday, we have been in the streets. Our children still have no food or water. These are just words that get across.

– Reporter: From which area?

– Displaced man: From Ghandouriya.

– Reporter: Since when?

– Displaced man: Since yesterday at 11 am, from the time the raids started, until today we are still sitting in the car, the word is getting out.

– Reporter: Ok, where are you going? And where can you get to? Do you have a shop?

– Displaced man: I want to see where I should go, what should I do? I am going, where will God put us to see?

– Reporter: It was hard for you.

– Displaced person: Of course, of course, my children are still without food.

– Reporter: Okay, can we talk to the boys?

– Displaced man: May God bless you.

Since Monday 23 September 2024, southern Lebanon has witnessed a large-scale displacement movement towards Beirut and the north due to the heavy bombing by the Israeli occupation army.

Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad announced that 558 people were killed and 1,835 others were injured as a result of the Israeli occupation bombing of southern Lebanon at the time of publishing this verification.
