A video clip showing cars burning due to Hamas missiles last October has spread on social media , with the claim that the video is due to Hezbollah missiles targeting Israel. The video was accompanied by the following claim: “Fires broke out in Acre as a result of being directly hit by missiles launched from Lebanon”.

Kashif verified the video via reverse search on Google, Kashif found that the video is old and the claim is misleading. The fire broke out due to Hamas missiles last October, and not recently due to Hezbollah missiles on Israel. Sky News published the video on 9 October 2023: “Cars catch fire after a missile falls on Ashdod.”

Al-Qassam Brigades announced on 9 October 2023 that it had launched a major missile strike on the cities of Ashdod and Ashkelon with 120 missiles in response to the Israeli occupation’s bombing of civilian homes in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that “the sirens sounded on Thursday, 26 September 2024, in the city of Acre and a number of Israeli settlements,” adding: “A number of the rockets that were fired at Acre fell into the sea”.

Hezbollah did not announce its bombing of the city of Acre – until the moment of publishing this verification. In the latest statement it published today, Thursday 26 Septmeber 2024 at 9:08, it announced its targeting of the Mishar base (the main intelligence headquarters for the northern region) with a missile salvo.

The Israeli occupation army launched an aggression with hundreds of air strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon and the southern suburb of Beirut since Monday 23 September 2024, and Hezbollah responded with barregs of missiles and drones that reached Tel Aviv, Haifa, Nahariya, Safed, Afula and the West Bank settlements.

The Lebanese Minister of Health, Firas Al-Abyad , announced that the death toll from the Israeli occupation’s aggression on Lebanon on Thursday 26 September 2024 rose to 60 and 81 wounded, bringing the number since the beginning of the aggression on southern Lebanon to 1,540 and the 5,410 wounded.
