Accounts on X published a video clip of a girl in a demonstration in Lebanon, claiming that it was a celebration in Lebanon after the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, “Celebrations in the Lebanese street on the occasion of the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah. May God protect the free and honorable Lebanese people only, without the filthy deniers”.
Kashif verified the video via reverse search on Google, and found that the video is old and the claim is misleading. Reem Khattar, the girl who appears in the video, denied to Kashif the claim and explained that the video is old and that she published it on her TikTok account on 1/20/2020 in a demonstration for a youth movement due to the collapse of the economic situation in Lebanon. She added that she does not reside in Lebanon today and that she refuses to spread any kind of sedition.
On 17 October 2019, a series of civil protests began due to planned taxes on gasoline, tobacco, and Internet calls, and the collapse of the social and economic situation in Lebanon, and the protests extended until 2021.
Hezbollah announced on Saturday 28 September 2024, the assassination of the party’s Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli airstrikes on Friday, on the southern suburbs of Lebanon.
