An image of a damaged laptop has been shared widely on social media, with the claim that the image is of the incident of the wireless devices explosion attack on Wednesday 18 September 2024, in Lebanon.

One source of the claim

Kashif verified the image via reverse image search using “Google images” tool and found that it is old and incorrectly linked to the incident of wireless devices exploding in Lebanon. The image was published by the “Eve’s World” website along with other images of the same laptop from different angles, on 14 January 2010, captioned: “Images of a forgotten laptop with the charger”.

New: Icom wireless devices exploded on Wednesday 18 September 2024, with their carriers inside homes in different areas of southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Health also announced that the explosions resulted in the deaths of 14 people and more than 460 injuries at the time of preparing the verification.

Pager devices exploded on Tuesday 17 September 2024, with their carriers in southern Lebanon, the southern suburbs of Beirut, the Bekaa in eastern Lebanon, as well as in the Syrian capital Damascus and the Rif Dimashq Governorate. This resulted in the death of 12 people and the injury of about 2,800, most of whom were Hezbollah members, according to the Lebanese Minister of Health, and until the moment of preparing the verification.
