Video of Russian arms depot on fire after Ukrainian drone attack reposted as Lebanon

Social media accounts posted a video showing a huge explosion, accompanied by the following claim: “A scene documenting the moment of one of the violent Israeli raids in southern Lebanon”.

Kashif verified the video and found that it was incorrectly linked to the Israeli occupation’s bombing of Lebanon. The video was circulated by a group of media outlets on Saturday, 21 September 2024, including “Sky News”, which published it in a report with the following title: “Fire engulfs weapons depot deep in Russia after massive Ukrainian drone attack – as Zelensky prepares to meet Trump”.

Sky News explained in the video description that it shows “a Russian arms depot in Krasnodar being bombed by a Ukrainian drone”.

Kashif’s team also found that the audio attached to the circulated video clip belongs to an old video documenting an Israeli raid on Lebanon, published by the Anadolu Agency on its YouTube channel “Anadolu English” on 19 August 2024.

The Israeli occupation army warplanes launched a new wave of violent raids on Saturday evening, 21 September 2024, on southern Lebanon.
