Social media accounts posted a video clip of a man distributing sweets, claiming that he is the new Minister of Justice in the Syrian transitional government. The clip was accompanied by the following claim: “The new Minister of Justice in the Syrian government, without any escort, distributes sweets to people himself, rejoicing in the liberation of Syria.”
Kashif verified the video via “Google Images” and found that the claim is misleading, the video shows a man called Hamza Al-Qadri and not the Minister of Justice in the Syrian Transitional Government, Shadi Al-Waisi.
Hamza Al-Qadri’s TikTok account, “alkadiri8” published the video on 12/12/2024, accompanied by the following caption: “On the occasion of the liberation of Syria and the city of Deir Ezzor, and soon Raqqa and Hasakah, God willing.”
Kashif found that Abu Ramh Al-Aqidi alakidi67 ’s account on TikTok had published a video on 14/12/2024, claiming that it was of the new Syrian Minister of Justice. Al-Qadri responded in the comments, stating that the video was of him in Turkey, not the Minister of Justice.
Kashif’s team compared images of the Minister of Justice in the Syrian Transitional Government, Shadi Al-Waisi, and found that it’s not the same person in the circulated video.
