Accounts on X shared and published a video clip showing heavy fireworks and red lights, claiming it is from southern Lebanon. The video was shared with the following text: “Urgent: Israel is sending aid to southern Lebanon to light up the region,” indicating that the video is of an attack by Israel on southern Lebanon.
Kashif verified the video through reverse search found that it documents celebrations of the the Mouloudia Club of Algiers anniversary. The video clip starting at 00:00 to 00:06 is old and was published by Abd Ellah Arabdji account on YouTube on 9 August 2024 titled: “Celebrations of the supporters of (the Mouloudia Club of Algiers) on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the club.”
As for the clip from 00:06 to 00:09 and from 00:11 to 00:15, it was published by the algeria_beauty1 account on TikTok on 8 August 2024, accompanied by the description “ Algeria is red again ,” referring to the celebrations of the club’s fans.
Regarding the accelerated clip from 00:09 to 00:11, it is old and was published by the MS_off account on TikTok on 8 August 2023 of celebrations of the Mouloudia d’Alger fans.
Kashif also found videos from other angles that were taken and published documenting the celebrations of the Mouloudia of Algiers fans. On 7 August 2024, Ennahar TV published a video clip of the Algerian capital being lit up with fireworks to celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the club’s founding.
Algeria International Channel also published a report on 9 August 2024 titled “Mouloudia Algiers supporters light up the world’s largest capitals on the 103rd anniversary of the club’s founding.”
Mouloudia Club of Algiers is an Algerian football club founded on 7 August 1921. It is considered as the dean of Algerian clubs, and it is the first Algerian club to win a continental competition, the African Cup in 1976.
