“Gazawood1” X account posted a video showing several displaced people playing soccer in a school yard, followed by an airstrike. The post claimed the scene was staged: “Another heavily staged and fake scene.”
Kashif verified the video through reverse search using the “Invid” tool and found that the video is real but the claim misleading. The video was published by “Al Jazeera” on 9 July 2024 on its account on “X”, explaining that the video documents the initial moments of an Israeli airstrike on the entrance of a school sheltering displaced people in Abasan, east of Khan Yunis, before the bombing.
The Israeli occupation army bombed the entrance of Al-Mutanabbi School, crowded with displaced people in the town of Abasan Kabira in the eastern area of Khan Yunis, at around 6:30 PM on Wednesday, 10 July 2025.
The Ministry of Health announced in a statement on 10 July 2024 that 27 people were killed and over 53 were injured during the airstrike.
Statement from the Ministry of Health on 10 July 2024 Additionally, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, tweeted on his X account that the occupying state has bombed two-thirds of the agency’s schools since the start of the war on Gaza in October of last year.
