“Quraish” X account recently posted a video showing a young man carrying a child with an exploded head, with the following caption: “In your opinion, is this a doll or real?” claiming that the child is a doll.
Kashif verified the claim and found it to be misleading. Photojournalist Moaz Abu Taha, who took the video, told Kashif that the child appearing in the video is 8 year-old Mahmoud Ahmed Samour, who was murdered in the targeting of a tent in the Abasan area east of Khan Yunis on 21 August 2024.
Taha stated that he posted the video on his Instagram account on the same date, but the platform deleted the video after about 12 hours.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced in its latest update, on Thursday, 5 September 2024 that the death toll of the aggression on the Gaza Strip has risen to 40,878 and 94,454 injuries since 7 October 2023.
