Social media accounts recently published a video clip of a prisoner narrating his suffering in prison, claiming that he is a Syrian detainee. The clip was accompanied by the following text: “A Syrian detainee tells us how he was satisfied if he was hungry in Assad’s prisons.”
Kashif verified the video via “Google Images” and found that it was incorrectly linked to detainees in Syria. The clip is of Palestinian prisoner Moazaz Obayiat talking about his suffering in Israeli occupation prisons.
Quds News Network published the video on “X” on 12/7/2024, with the following caption: “Press coverage: When I was hungry, I would glorify God and praise Him and be satisfied, praise be to God,” Moazaz Obayiat, who was released from Israeli occupation prisons.

37-year-old Moazaz Khalil Obayiat, a Palestinian prisoner from “Khalayel Al-Loz” area in the city of Bethlehem, was released by the Israeli occupation forces from the Negev prison on Tuesday 9/7/2024, after spending nine months in administrative detention, and was re-arrested on Wednesday 16/10/2024, three months after his release.
The Association of Detainees and Missing Persons in Sednaya Prison confirmed on 9/12/2024 that the prison was empty of detainees in all its buildings, the white and the red, and added that the last detainee left on 8/12/2024 at 11:00 AM Damascus time. The detainees were released from the prisons of Bashar al-Assad’s regime after the Syrian opposition factions announced their control over all cities and the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s rule following operation “Deterrence of Aggression” which began on 7/12/2024.
