A photo showing burning trucks has recently spread on social media, with the claim that it is of the burning of the Conoco base as a result of the bombing in Syria, “Breaking: the Axis of Resistance is burning the American Conoco base with missiles and drones.”

One sources of the claim

Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. The image dates back to targeting a convoy of fuel trucks with guided missiles near the Libyan border in 2022.

The Libyan army’s “44th Combat Brigade” account on Facebook published the circulated photo, along with a group of similar photos, on 2/12/2022, and explained that it was targeting a convoy of trucks carrying fuel, with guided missiles after an attempt to smuggle it out of Libya. This came after a clash between one of the Libyan army detachments and smuggling gangs.
