Accounts on “X” recently published a photo showing a group of people lying on the ground, claiming that they were at Ben Gurion Airport, coinciding with the Houthis targeting the airport.
Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” and found that it is old and was wrongly linked to the recent Houthi targeting of Ben Gurion Airport. The image shows passengers lying face down at Ben Gurion Airport in October 2023.
“Natalie Wright”, who identifies herself as a foreign affairs producer at “ITV News” on “X”, published the circulated image on 7/10/2023, accompanied by a comment that read: “Thirty seconds after the plane landed at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv this evening.”
Kashif found that X account “Sulaiman Ahmed” had published the photo on 27/9/2024 and indicated that it was recent in Tel Aviv, so “Natalie Wright” responded by sharing the tweet, stating that the photo was taken by her in Tel Aviv, but it was not recent, but rather taken on 7/10/2023.
On 8/10/2023, “airlive” published a report that included the circulated image, with the following title: “Passengers take cover on the runway after landing at Tel Aviv airport.” The report stated that “passengers who got off the plane were greeted by sirens and were ordered to lie down on the ground. The passengers hid on the runway after landing at Tel Aviv airport while Palestinian rockets fired from Gaza exploded in the vicinity of the airport.”
The spokesperson ofthe Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced in a statement on “X” on 31/12/2024 that Ben Gurion Airport and the power station south of Jerusalem were targeted.
