Accounts on “X” recently published a photo showing a burning ship, claiming that the Yemeni Armed Forces targeted it in the Red Sea, “The Yemeni Armed Forces are carrying out a large-scale military operation in the Red Sea.”

Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” and found that the image is old and the claim is misleading. The image shows an oil platform on fire in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010. 

On 22/4/2010, CBS NEWS published the photo in a report titled: “Louisiana Oil Platform Explosion” and accompanied the photo with the following description: “The Deepwater Horizon oil platform caught fire in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, April 22, 2010.”

The Deepwater Horizon oil rig, operating in the Macondo Prospect area of ​​the Gulf of Mexico, exploded and sank on 20/4/2010, killing 11 workers, according to a report published by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The report added that 4 million barrels of oil flowed from the Macondo well over a period of 87 days, before it was shut down on July 15, 2010.
