A statement was circulated on social media, titled “Families of the Victims of the War on Gaza,” dated 25/1/2025. The statement included a message to the released prisoners, in both Arabic and English, which read: “We, the families of the victims of the war on Gaza, warn you and all media outlets against the manifestations of joy and happiness in your shameful exit over the skulls of our children and the destruction of our homes in Gaza. We remind you that your exit has cost us 50,000 martyrs and a sixth of Gaza land forever. You have the right to hold mourning houses for your wasted chivalry. No torches of joy and happiness. No voice shall be raised above the voice of Gaza people.”
Kashif contacted journalist Hassan Aslih from Gaza, who denied existence of such a committee, stressing that the word “victims” is not used in the committees of the families of martyrs, which indicates the unreliability of the circulated statement.
Alaa Al-Barawi, the spokesperson of the National Committee for the Families of Martyrs and Wounded in Gaza, confirmed to Kashif that he had never heard of a committee called “Families of War Victims in Gaza,” and stressed his rejection of the circulated statement.
In Kashif team’s interview with the director of the government media office in Gaza, Ismail Al-Thawabta, who also stated that he did not know of a committee called “Families of War Victims in Gaza.”
