A series of photos have been circulating on social media, claiming that they show an Egyptian lynx attacking Israeli soldiers on the Egyptian border, causing various injuries, “They sustained various injuries! The predatory Egyptian lynx attacks Israeli soldiers on the border!”

    One source of the claim

Kashif verified the images and found them to be fake and generated using artificial intelligence. Kashif examined the images using the AI-generated image evaluation tool “sightengine,” and the results showed that they were 88% fake. Kashif also examined the elements of the images and found several distortions: unnatural overlap between the lynx and the soldier, and distorted details such as ears, shadows, and facial features. Additionally, there are inconsistent lighting, background noise, and illogical details in clothing and the body.

Israeli media outlets, including Ynet, reported an incident on the border with Egypt, where a wild animal known as an “Egyptian lynx” attacked a group of Israeli soldiers in the Harif Mountains area of the Negev Desert during a routine patrol in the border area. The incident resulted in a number of soldiers sustaining injuries ranging from minor to moderate, resulting from bites and scratches.

The Egyptian lynx is a medium-sized wild cat that lives in the desert and grassy plains of Africa and the Middle East, including the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
