A series of three pictures of a wounded girl being carried by three different people in each one circulated on social media with the claim it’s of Palestinians using actors to fake children’s injuries. The claim was published as part of the “Pallywood” campaign which casts doubt on the existence and number of Palestinians killed and wounded in the Gaza Strip, and accusing Palestinians of acting to gain international sympathy.

The claim: Palestinians using actors to fake children’s injuries.

The correction: The images are of a girl from Syria taken by AFP photographer Amir Halabi on 27 August 2016.

Kashif was able to find that the pictures are old and misleading. Using reverse search tools and search in public sources, kashif verified that the pictures were taken by AFP photographer Amir Al-Halabi on 27 August 2016 after a Syrian airstrike on Al-Maadi neighbourhood east of Aleppo.
The images were also taken in a short period of time during which the girl moved between the arms of the people who appeared in the circulating pictures. The pictures were taken by AFP photographer as well.

AFP had conducted an investigation on 26 April 2018 on the matter, after a range of allegations spread about them as the claim that the child miraculously survived 3 separate attacks.
