A image of an infant on the ground has recently spread on social media, with the claim that it’s a child who died of cold weather in the Gaza Strip. The picture was accompanied by the following description: “The little one died of a cold, end of story.”

    One source of the claim

Kashif verified the image via “Google Image” tool, and found that the image is old and is of infant from Egypt, not from the Gaza Strip. The image was published by Cairo 24 on 17/11/2021 with the title: “An infant was found next to a mosque in Qanater Khayreya,” and the website added: “Major General Mohsen Shaaban, Director of Qalyubia Security, received a notification from Brigadier General Anwar Hashish, Chief of Qanater Khayreya Police Station, stating that he had received a report from residents that a infant, several days old, wearing all his clothes, had been found dumped behind Quba Mosque in Qanater City.”

Sada Elbalad website also published the same photo of the infant on 17/11/2021, titled: “Intensive movement by Qalyubia Investigations to solve the mystery of finding a child behind a mosque.”
