A statement attributed to Hamas has spread on social media, denying the killing of the movement’s political bureau chief, Yahya Sinwar.
Kashif verified the statement and found that it was fabricated. It searched the official website of Hamas and did not find any publication of the circulated statement. Hamas or the movement’s spokesmen did not publish any information confirming or denying the killing of its political bureau chief Yahya Sinwar in the Gaza Strip at the moment of publishing the verification.
Tabayyin platform, affiliated with Hamas, denied the statement via Telegram, confirming that it was incorrect and did not come from the official websites and platforms of Hamas.
Israeli media published several photos on Thursday evening 17/10/2024 of a body, claiming that it belongs to the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, and said that he was killed during clashes in the city of Rafah.
