Information has spread on social media stating that the Israeli occupation army has issued a decision to close the northern entrance checkpoint to the city of Al-Bireh (Beit El) until the end of 2027, as part of a military decision under the pretext of security reasons.
Kashif verified the information and found it to be fabricated. The Palestinian Military Liaison Office denied the claims on its official WhatsApp channel that the Beit El checkpoint would be closed until 2027, confirming that the information was false. The statement clarified that the checkpoint was operating as usual without any changes, urging citizens to obtain information from official sources and not be swayed by rumors.
Israeli-Hebrew affairs team at Kashif also searched the Hebrew media and official websites and found no announcement by the Israeli occupation army regarding the closure of the Beit El checkpoint until the end of 2027.
The Israeli occupation army has intensified its military measures in most Palestinian cities and towns, installing new checkpoints and gates. The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission announced in January 2025 that the number of Israeli military checkpoints and gates in the West Bank governorates has reached 898, including 17 gates installed since the beginning of the current year.
