Social media accounts posted a video of explosions, claiming they followed a US airstrike on a Houthi weapons depot. The caption read: “A video clip documenting the US airstrike on a Houthi weapons depot last day in Sana’a.”

Kashif verified the video clip via Invid tool and found that it was falsely linked to US airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sana’a. It was first circulated in May 2015 and has no connection to the recent US airstrikes.

Al Jazeera Mubasher Channel account on Facebook posted the video on 11/5/2015, with the following description: “Explosions in Jabal Nuqum, east of Sana’a, after the coalition bombed weapons depots belonging to Houthi and Saleh militants.”

The video was posted on Al Jazeera Mubasher’s Facebook account on May 11, 2015.

February 11 Revolution account also posted it on Facebook on the same date, with the following caption: “Watch a clear video of missiles flying over residential neighborhoods from Mount Nuqum. May God have mercy on beloved Yemen.”

The video was posted on “February 11 Revolution” Facebook account on 11/5/2015

Since 15 March, Yemen has been subjected to hundreds of US airstrikes, the most recent of which hit a residential neighborhood in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, killing at least 12 people and wounding 30 others.
