Accounts on “X” recently published a photo of a huge explosion, claiming that it was in Haifa. 

One source of the claim

Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool, and found that it is old and was incorrectly linked to Hezbollah targeting Haifa. The image shows an Israeli occupation raid on the town of Hanawiya in August 2024. 

An-Nahar newspaper published the photo on its account on “X” on 8/8/2024, accompanied by the following text: “Breaking: An-Nahar correspondent: A raid on the town of Hanawiyah, Tyre district.”

lebanon24 also published the photo on 8/8/2024. The photo was included in a report with the following title: “A raid on the town of Hanawiya and injuries…these are the latest data.” The report stated that the Israeli occupation launched a raid with two missiles on the town of Hanawiya in the Tyre district in Lebanon.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced in a statement on Thursday 8/8/2024, that five people were slightly injured as a result of an Israeli raid that targeted the town of Hanawiya, in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah announced in a statement on Saturday 16/11/2024 the launching of a number of “qualitative missiles” at military bases in and around the city of Haifa. The party mentioned in its statement five bases that it targeted in Haifa, namely “the Haifa Technical Base, the Haifa Naval Base, the Stella Maris Base, the Tira Carmel Base… and for the first time the Nesher Base.”
