A photo has spread on social media showing the Secretary-General of the Arab Islamic Council, Muhammad Ali al-Husseini, standing next to an Israeli flag, claiming he’s at the Israeli embassy, “Hadashot Bezaman platform publishes a photo of the star of “Al-Arabiya” channel, Mossad agent Muhammad al-Husseini, at the Israeli embassy.”
Kashif verified the photo via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. The photo is of the Secretary-General of the Arab Islamic Council, Muhammad Ali al-Husseini, at the headquarters of Amnesty International in 2016.
Sheikh Sayyed Muhammad Ali al-Husayni website, published the photo on 12/4/2016, and stated that it of “the Secretary-General of the Arab Islamic Council, Muhammad Ali al-Husayni, at the headquarters of Amnesty International in Europe.”
Upon examining the original image, Kashif found that the circulated image was subject to manipulation, as the circulated image shows the Israeli flag, and a logo of the Israeli embassy, however, the original image shows Amnesty’s logo.
“Al-Taghyeer” and “Dunia Al-Watan” news websites reported on 4/12/2016 that “Mohammed Ali Al-Husseini sent a call from the headquarters of Amnesty International in Europe to cooperate with humanitarian organizations for rapid humanitarian intervention in the besieged city of Fallujah in Iraq, the besieged cities of Madaya and Daraya in Syria, and the general deterioration in Yemen.”
Arabiya channel hosted the Secretary-General of the Arab Islamic Council, Muhammad Ali Al-Husseini, in several meetings on “Hour of Dialogue” program, and he spoke in Wednesday’s meeting, 23/10/2024, about “the future of Hezbollah and where Lebanon is heading.”
