Update: Later in the preparation of this investigation, at exactly 8:30 p.m., Channel 12 published a report titled “ Estimates are growing that Nasrallah’s heir was killed.”

Information attributed to Channel 12 Israel has spread on social media about the assassination of Hezbollah commander Hashem Safi al-Din. The claim reads as follows: “Channel 12 Israel: Hashem Safi al-Din was killed.”

The Israeli affairs team at Kashif verified the information and found that it was fabricated. It searched Channel 12, the media, and Hebrew websites and did not find any mention of the announcement of the assassination of Hashem Safi al-Din.

The Israeli-Hebrew Channel 12 confirmed that the raids launched by the Israeli occupation on the southern suburb of Beirut on Friday 4/10/2024 targeted Hashem Safi al-Din. The channel stated that Safi al-Din was in a hideout, and it is not yet known whether he was assassinated in the targeting or not.

Israeli-Hebrew newspapers Haaretz and Yedioth Ahronoth indicated that the attack that targeted the southern suburb of Beirut at dawn on Friday, 4/10/2024, targeted Hashem Safieddine, the potential successor to Hassan Nasrallah.

Kashif’s team also searched the official Hezbollah media account and did not find any mention in the channel, at the moment of publishing this verification, of any comments or details about the fate of Hashem Safieddine after the targeting of the southern suburb on Friday.

Lebanese media outlets such as Al-Mayadeen reported that the Israeli occupation army launched a series of raids at dawn on Friday, 4/10/2024, targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut. It added that the targeted area included health centers, civil defense centers, and schools, and was considered a residential area, and that the raids it was subjected to were the most violent, according to its description.
