Social media accounts recently published a video clip showing a woman talking about the withdrawal of American forces from the cities of northern Syria. The video included the following text: “A correspondent for the SDF militia publishes the moment of US forces withdrawal from Syria and their abandonment of the SDF militia.”
Kashif verified the video via “Google Images” and found that it is old and the claim is misleading. The video circulated in October 2019 and shows Al-Ghad TV correspondent covering the withdrawal of US forces from areas controlled by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units towards northern Iraq via the Semalka crossing.
Al Hadath Syria on Facebook published the video on 21/10/2019, with the following caption: “Al-Ghad Channel correspondent Naz Al-Sayed comments on the withdrawal of US forces from areas controlled by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units towards northern Iraq via the Semalka crossing a short while ago.”
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported on 21/10/2019, “American forces military convoy was seen leaving Syrian territory through the Semalka border crossing with Iraq on the night of Sunday-Monday.”
Clashes took place between the factions of the Syrian National Army loyal to Turkey and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the Tishreen Dam axis in the eastern countryside of Aleppo on 27/12/2024, resulting in deaths and injuries on both sides.
Al Araby reported on 29/12/2024 that clashes in the vicinity of the Qara Qozak Bridge and near the Tishrin Dam between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and “armed factions loyal to Turkey” have continued for the twentieth consecutive day.
