The Palestinian paltform for Fact-Checking and Media Literacy (Kashif) organized a series of interactive sessions on fact-checking and political monitoring with students from Birzeit University and Modern University College, as well as a youth group of students and graduates from various Palestinian universities at Sharek Youth Forum.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kashif’s fact-checker Mohammed Farhat presented a summary of the most prominent contexts and forms of disinformation pursued by the Kashif team during the aggression on the Gaza Strip, both locally and regionally, as well as the most active misleading campaigns and accounts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the sessions, students learned about mechanisms for monitoring and tracking misleading and fragmented information, images, and videos, and how to verify their authenticity through a practical application of information verification tools. At the end of the sessions, participants verified a set of previously circulated misleading information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wafaa Arouri, head of the Political Honesty Index at Kashif, reviewed political monitoring tools and mechanisms for verifying political statements, which typically range from the achievements of officials and decision-makers to the promises they make to the public. She also examined electoral platforms and the credibility of winning lists in fulfilling the promises they made to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These sessions were conducted as part of the Enlightened Voices project, organized by the Kashif in cooperation with the Shahid Center, as part of the Central Elections Commission project and with support from the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
