Social media\u00a0accounts<\/a>\u00a0have published a video clip of Jordan\u2019s King Abdullah II, in which he confirms that the arrival of refugees from Gaza to Jordan and Egypt is a red line, claiming that the statement was made following US President Donald Trump\u2019s statements about what he called \u201ccleansing\u201d Gaza, and his call for Jordan and Egypt receiving Palestinians from Gaza. The video included the following text: \u201cBreaking now, the King of Jordan responds to Trump: displacement is a red line.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

Kashif verified the video via \u201cGoogle Images\u201d and found that it is old. The clip is of a statement by King Abdullah II of Jordan during a press conference with the German Chancellor in Berlin in October 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jordanian Kingdom Channel<\/a>\u00a0published\u00a0the video on YouTube on 17\/10\/2023, accompanied by the following title: \u201cThe King: Displacing Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt is a red line. No refugees in Jordan and no refugees in Egypt.\u201d The channel indicated in the video description that the statement was made by the King during a press conference with the German Chancellor.<\/p>\n\n\n

A statement issued by\u00a0the Royal Hashemite Court\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0on 17\/10\/2023 also reported that King Abdullah II held a meeting in Berlin with heads of parliamentary blocs and committees and heads and representatives of German institutions and research centers hosted by the German Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and warned of the danger of measures that seek to push a new wave of refugees, stressing that the forced displacement of Palestinians from their lands will not be allowed because it portends disastrous effects on the countries of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

US President Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0said regarding his call with King Abdullah on Saturday, 25\/1\/2025, \u201cI told him I would like you to take more because I look at the entire Gaza Strip right now and it is in chaos, it is a real chaos. I would like him to take people.\u201d He said: \u201cI would like Egypt to take people as well,\u201d adding that he would speak to\u00a0Egyptian President<\/a>\u00a0Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0also\u00a0said: \u201cWe’re talking about a million and a half people, and we’re clearing out the entire area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part,\u00a0Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi<\/a>\u00a0confirmed on 26\/1\/2025 that his country’s position rejecting the displacement of Palestinians remains firm, in response to what US President Donald Trump said about transferring more than a million people from the Gaza Strip to Jordan and Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/a>\u00a0also announced\u00a0in a statement dated 26\/1\/2025 that Egypt stresses its rejection of any infringement on the rights of the Palestinian people, whether through settlement, annexation of land, or by evacuating that land of its owners through displacement or encouraging the transfer of Palestinians from their land, whether temporarily or long-term, in a way that threatens stability and portends further extension of the conflict to the region, and undermines the chances of peace and coexistence among its peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamas<\/a>\u00a0confirmed\u00a0in a statement on 26\/1\/2025 that \u201cthe Palestinian people, who have stood firm in the face of the most heinous acts of genocide and refused to surrender to displacement, categorically reject any plans to deport and displace them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Palestinian presidency<\/a>\u00a0also expressed, in a statement on 26\/1\/2025, its rejection of projects to displace Palestinians in Gaza, considering this a \u201ccrossing of red lines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
