Social media\u00a0accounts<\/a>\u00a0recently published two photos of two planes, claiming that one of them is Russian and the other Iranian, and that they arrived in Damascus following the \u201cDeterrence of Aggression\u201d operation. The photos were accompanied by the following text: \u201cBreaking: Two Iranian and Russian cargo planes have arrived in Damascus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

One source of the claim<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Kashif verified the two images via \u201cGoogle Images\u201d tool and found that the two images are old, and that the claim is misleading. The two images are of two Russian aircraft, and were circulated before the start of Operation \u201cDeterrence of Aggression\u201d on 27\/11\/2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first photo was published by a number of websites, including \u201carmyrecognition<\/a>\u201d on 1\/7\/2019. The photo was accompanied by the following description: \u201cRussian Air Force 76MD-90A aircraft.\u201d \u201cSPUTNIK<\/a>\u201d published the photo on 7\/5\/2023 in a report titled \u201cYushin Il-76: Meet the Head of the Russian Strategic Transport Aircraft.\u201d \u201cAlePogoda<\/a>\u201d account on \u201cX\u201d published the circulated photo on 9\/1\/2017. The websites and the account mentioned that it was taken by photographer Alexey Reznichenko.<\/p>\n\n\n

The second photo was published by \u201cSPUTNIK<\/a>\u201d on 13\/7\/2015, which stated that it was taken by \u201cIliya Pitalev\u201d. It documents \u201ca military transport plane transporting injured soldiers after a military barracks collapsed at the paratrooper training center on the outskirts of Omsk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

The opposition factions<\/a>\u00a0announced on Wednesday 27\/11\/2024 the start of a military operation called \u201cDeterrence of Aggression.\u201d While\u00a0the foreign ministers<\/a>\u00a0of Iran and Russia expressed their support for Syria following the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
