Qassem\u2019s account on \u201cX\u201d <\/a>recently published\u00a0a photo of a burning \u201cMerkava\u201d military tank, claiming that the photo was recent, after Hezbollah targeted a Merkava tank in the town of Shamaa in southern Lebanon, \u201cHezbollah: We destroyed a \u201cMerkava\u201d tank and killed and wounded its crew with a guided missile, west of the town of Shamaa in southern Lebanon, this afternoon.\u201d Indicating that the photo dates back to the event.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Source of the claim<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Kashif verified the image via reverse image search using \u201cGoogle Image\u201d tool and found that the image is old and was incorrectly linked to Hezbollah targeting a Merkava tank in the town of Shama. It was published by a group of media outlets, including\u00a0the Dunya Al Watan website,<\/a>\u00a0on 27\/11\/2008, titled: \u201cPictures of the 1982 war in Lebanon in which the Palestinian revolution fought against the Israeli army.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al Jazeera<\/a>\u00a0also published\u00a0the photo in a report dated 4\/11\/2024, accompanied by the following title: \u201cThe Night the Merkava Fell… How Did the Resistance Destroy the Legendary Israeli Army Tank?\u201d It indicated that the source of the photo is social media, and the tank was destroyed during the invasion of Lebanon in the 1980s.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
