Kashif verified the video via the \u201cINVID\u201d tool and found that the video is old and the claim is misleading. It was published by the \u201c\u00a0MAKS 24<\/a>\u00a0\u201d account on \u201cX\u201d on 27 July 2024 and stated that it \u201cshows the losses of the former \u201cWagner Group\u201d mercenaries in Mali\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n

Kashif’s team was able to access a group of video clips published by the\u00a0\u201cTOGA\u201d<\/a>\u00a0account on \u201cX\u201d on 27 July 2024, stating that they were filmed in Mali, where local fighters repelled a major attack launched by the Russian \u201cWagner\u201d forces, which led to the destruction of several armored vehicles and the downing of a helicopter, according to his description. Kashif compared the place and the people appearing in the videos published by the \u201cTOGA\u201d account and the circulated video clip and found a match.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to\u00a0Russian media<\/a>\u00a0, a joint group of Malian military units and elements of the Russian Wagner unit were ambushed by Tuareg groups in the desert of northern Mali, near the Algerian border. Violent clashes erupted, resulting in the deaths of a large number of\u00a0Wagner<\/a>\u00a0members and Malian government forces, while Tuareg forces were able to capture some of them.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kashif’s team also examined the circulated video clip and found that the dialect spoken by the people is not Yemeni, during their conversation they mention the words \u201cWagner,\u201d \u201cRussia,\u201d and \u201cMali,\u201d which negates the authenticity of the video, which is attributed to Yemen.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Pentagon advisor\u00a0Douglas\u00a0<\/a>MacGregor<\/a>\u00a0said in an interview dated 8 August 2024 that according to open and unofficial sources, \u201c70 Israeli and American special forces fighters, and I do not know how many of them are Israeli or American, but the situation is that the majority are Israelis, infiltrated Yemen in a special operation, but it seems that Russian satellites saw them and informed the Iranians, who in turn informed the Houthis and eliminated them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
