Social media accounts have published information claiming that the head of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, David Barnea, has been killed. The information was as follows: “Breaking: David Barnea, director of the Mossad, was killed in the recent Iranian strikes.”

The latest Israeli-Hebrew media coverage of Iranian missiles was that the Israeli defense system intercepted one or two missiles launched from Iran after the ceasefire was declared on 24 June 2025. However, Iran denied launching missiles after the ceasefire was declared.

Kashif verified the information and found it to be fabricated. Israeli-Hebrew affairs team at Kashif searched the media and official Hebrew websites and found no mention of the assassination of Mossad chief David Barnea.

The Observatory team found that a number of media outlets had published a video clip of Mossad chief David Barnea on June 25, 2025, in which he thanked agents, the Israeli army, and the CIA for their cooperation during the attack on Iran. In his video remarks, Barnea said , “We will remain vigilant and closely monitor all projects in Iran that we know about with the utmost precision. We will be there as we are now.”

The Israeli occupation launched an attack on Iran on 13 June 2025, targeting military and nuclear sites, civilian facilities, and the assassination of military leaders and nuclear scientists. This triggered a 12-day military escalation between the two sides, during which Tehran targeted Israeli military and intelligence sites with ballistic missiles and drones.

The Iranian judiciary announced that the death toll from the military escalation with Israel had risen to 935, including 38 children and 132 women. The Iranian General Staff said that Israel “will face a crushing and devastating response if it launches a new aggression.” Meanwhile, Israel announced that 28 people were killed and 3,238 injured as a result of the Iranian response.
