“Fedayeen Sayyed Abdul Malik Al Houthi” account on “X” posted a video clip of a missile being launched, claiming that it belonged to the Houthis. The clip was accompanied by the following text: “It is Yemen, gentlemen… the first Arab hypersonic (surface-to-surface) missile.”

Kashif verified the video via the Invid tool, and found it to be old and incorrectly linked to Houthi announcements of their hypersonic ballistic missile launches. The clip, which was circulated in November 2023, depicts the Iranian Fatah 2 hypersonic missile.
Sputnik Brasil account on X published the video on 22/11/2023, with the following description: “Iran launches its hypersonic missile, Fatah-2. The footage broadcast by Fars News Agency on Tuesday evening shows the moment the new Iranian hypersonic missile, Fatah-2, was launched and accurately hit its target.”

The Sun also posted the clip on YouTube on the same date, 22/11/2023, with the following description: “Iran unveils new hypersonic cruise missile.” The clip’s description stated that on 21/11/2023, Iran showed footage of a new hypersonic cruise missile test called the Fateh 2. The Sun quoted the Iranian Fars News Agency as saying that the missile has a range of 1,400 kilometers and a speed of between Mach 13 and 15, while engineers hope to increase its range to 2,000 kilometers.

The Houthis frequently announce targeting Israel with hypersonic ballistic missiles. The most recent announcement was made by Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Yahya Saree on 23/4/2025, about targeting a vital target in Haifa with a hypersonic ballistic missile.
