Information has been circulating on social media and WhatsApp groups claiming that the Palestinian police have opened an investigation into a photo of a child with his hands and feet tied up in a street on the outskirts of Hebron. The claim reads: “The Palestinian police have opened an investigation into the torture of a child in a village on the outskirts of Hebron, where a father tied his son up on a public street and left him in the road for an hour. Who is this animal who would do this to his son?”
Kashif verified the claim and found it to be fabricated. Palestinian police spokesman Louay Erziqat, told Kashif that the claim is fabricated. Erziqat added that the Palestinian police had not opened an investigation into the circulating image, nor had they received a report about the image or any related incident.
This was also confirmed by Bashir al-Natsheh, the spokesperson for the Hebron Police’s public relations and media department, to Kashif, who stated that the allegation is false and fabricated.
Regarding the image, Kashif found no previous publication of it and was unable to locate the original source.
