Information has spread on social media about a martyred girl named “Yasmine Al-Haj Ibrahim”, who gave birth to her child in a hospital in Jerusalem. The information came as follows: “A girl named ((Yasmine Al-Haj)) was injured in Nour Shams camp and was arrested by Israeli occupation forces. She was pregnant and gave birth to a child and died in an Israeli hospital. The occupation is demanding payment of hospital costs and the receipt of the child from first-degree relatives. The financial amount is ready from the youth of Jerusalem. It is required to identify the boy’s family and inform them. Otherwise, the occupation will proceed to raise and adopt the child within 24 hours.”

The information was also circulated in the following form: “A circular stating her name is Yasmine Al-Haj Ibrahim. She was martyred a few days ago. She is approximately 27 years old. The girl was pregnant and the fetus is alive in Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. We need to reach her family urgently to receive the child. For details, call 0545478305.”

Kashif verified the information and found it to be fabricated. The monitoring group contacted Nihad Shayoush, head of the Popular Committee in Nour Shams Camp in Tulkarm, who denied the presence of a girl bearing the name being circulated in the camp. He confirmed that no arrests had been recorded that matched the circulated information.
Kashif also contacted Imad Qaraqra, the official spokesperson for the General Authority for Civil Affairs, who stated that the authority had not been officially notified of the reported incident. Meanwhile, Amani Sarahneh, the media official at the Prisoners’ Club, confirmed to the Observatory that no arrests were recorded in the club’s records under the name “Yasmine Al-Haj Ibrahim.”
Marouf Al-Rifai, the media advisor to the Governor of Jerusalem, denied the accuracy of the information circulating to Kashif, stressing that it is fake and baseless. He explained that the governorate followed up on the incident and investigated it, and it turned out to be nothing more than a rumor. Kashif’s team tried to contact the number attached to the circulated information more than once (0545478305), but no one responded to the calls.
Update: The person who provided the information, Muhammad Abu Nijmeh, contacted Kashif and explained that he obtained the information from a person claiming to be a doctor at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. He published the information due to its sensitivity, but without verifying it.
