A video clip showing a huge explosion has recently spread on social media, with claims that it was the result of airstrikes targeting the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.

    One source of the claim

Kashif verified the video via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and wrongly linked to the recent targeting of Sanaa. The video was circulated in January 2024 and dates back to an American and British bombing that targeted Houthi sites in Yemen.

Al-Arabiya TV published the video on its YouTube channel on 1/12/2024, accompanied by the following text: “Watch… the first moments of the American and British bombing of Houthi targets in Yemen.”

A report published by Sky News Arabia on 12/1/2024, which included a truncated image from the video, stated that the US Department of Defense, with British participation, launched raids targeting Houthi sites in a number of Yemeni cities.

The report added that the raids targeted Houthi camps and sites in several areas, including the naval forces camp in Al-Kathib and the vicinity of Hodeidah airport, Al-Dailami air base and Faj Attan in Sana’a. They also targeted Al-Jund camp and the vicinity of Taiz airport, Kahlan camp in Saada, in addition to other sites in Hajjah.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said in a statement on “X” on 12/1/2024 that American and British forces targeted Yemen with seventy-three raids that included the capital, Sana’a, and the governorates of Hodeidah, Taiz, Hajjah, and Saada, resulting in the killing of five and wounding of six others from the armed forces.

Explosions occurred on Saturday evening, 21/12/2024, as a result of an American-British attack on various areas of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, according to Al Masirah Channel.

The spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, reported in his last statement on “X” on 21/12/2024 that an Israeli military target in the Jaffa area was targeted with a Palestine 2 hypersonic ballistic missile.
