Social media accounts recently published a photo showing an explosion next to a vehicle, claiming that it documents clashes between the National Army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The photo was accompanied by the following claim: “Violent clashes are now taking place between the National Army and SDF militants at the Qara Qozak Bridge in Manbij.”
Kashif verified the image via “Google Images” tool and found that it is old and was incorrectly linked to the clashes between the National Army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The image was previously circulated at different times as being of clashes with the Houthis.
“Sahafa Net ” website published the photo on 3/5/2018 as part of a report covering the outbreak of battles between the forces of the 22nd Mechanized Brigade in the National Army and the Houthis in various areas north and east of the Yemeni city of Taiz.
Al-Mashad Al-Arabi also published the photo on 31/7/2019, in a report talking about the outbreak of violent clashes between the southern forces and the Houthis on the fighting fronts in the north and west of Qataba in the Yemeni governorate of Al-Dhale.
Kashif was unable to verify the context of the photo and the exact time it was taken, but its old publication confirms that it is not of recent clashes between the National Army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Al-Mayadeen channel reported on Tuesday 10/12/2024 that clashes took place between the National Army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) at the Qara Qozak Bridge in Manbij. Mazloum Abdi, the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, announced on Wednesday 11/12/2024 that a ceasefire had been reached in the Syrian city of Manbij.
