A picture of a little girl circulated on social media, with the claim that the girl’s name is Ward Al-Astal and that she was recently killed in Gaza. The picture was accompanied by the following text: “Her name is Ward, Ward Al-Astal was killed by Israel today.”
Kashif verified the information and found it to be inaccurate. Kashif contacted Abdul Rahman Al-Hasani, Ward’s uncle, who said that the child’s is Ward Muhammad Al-Atal, not Al-Astal.
Al-Hasani added that the girl was killed along her family: her father, Muhammad Al-Atal, her mother, Rawand Fayez Al-Hasani, and her siblings, Hammam and Aws Muhammad Al-Atal, on 24/10/2023, when their home was targeted in the town of Al-Qarara, east of Khan Yunis, and not on 3/11/2024.
According to the latest update from the Palestinian Ministry of Health on 1/11/2024, 43,259 citizens were killed and 101,800 others were injured, the majority of whom were children and women, as a result of the Israeli aggression on the Strip since October 7, 2023.
