A video showing a military tank exploding after being targeted has spread on social media, with the claim that it was an Israeli tank that was targeted in southern Lebanon, “The first Zionist #Merkava tank to be destroyed by Hezbollah after it tried to enter #southern_Lebanon.”
Kashif verified the video via reverse search on Google, it found that the video is old and incorrectly linked. The video dates back to the explosion of a Russian tank in Ukraine, not the explosion of an Israeli tank in southern Lebanon. The unian website published the video on 8/10/2023, accompanied by the title: “The Ukrainian Armed Forces amazingly destroyed the Russian T-90M “Breakthrough” tank.”
The Daily Express Us website also published the video on 10/8/2023 with the title: “Crazy moment a Russian tank explodes with a deadly fireball after driving over a landmine.”
Hezbollah announced on Wednesday 8/2/2024, a series of operations in southern Lebanon, including the destruction of three Merkava tanks with guided missiles while advancing to the town of Maroun al-Ras, targeting a gathering of Israeli occupation forces in the orchards of Matla, and detonating an explosive device in an infantry force that infiltrated a house in the vicinity of Kfar Kila.
The Israeli occupation army also announced on Wednesday 2/10/2024, the killing of 8 soldiers and the serious injury of 7 others from the “Golani” Brigade and the “Igor” Unit during the battles in southern Lebanon.
