Social media accounts posted a video of a massive explosion, claiming it documented US airstrikes targeting the Yemeni capital, Sana’a. The video was accompanied by the following text: “US bombing of Sana’a.”
Kashif verified the video via Google Images and found that it was old and falsely linked to US airstrikes targeting Yemeni capital, Sana’a. The video circulated in August 2024 and has no connection to the recent US airstrikes.
The “ Engineer Badr Tamah ” account on Facebook posted the circulating video on August 30, 2024, with the following text: “A gas station explosion in Mansoura, Aden.” The “ Ibb Rohi ” account also posted it on Facebook on August 31, 2024, with the following description: “Another video showing the amount of fire caused by a gas station explosion!! May God protect the workers there and passersby.”
Asharq Al-Awsat reported on 31/8/2024, that an explosion occurred at a gas station on Friday evening, 30/8/2024, in the southern Yemeni city of Aden, killing three people and injuring 18 others.
Media outlets affiliated with the Ansar Allah group, Houthis, reported that a series of US airstrikes targeted areas in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, including Jabal Sarf area and another open area near West 60th Street.
On 18/3/2025 , the official spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced the implementation of a military operation targeting US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman for the third time within 48 hours, and targeting an American destroyer, in response to the “American aggression.”
