Accounts on “X” published a video clip showing a scout show in the city of Jerusalem, claiming that it was musical celebrations in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, coinciding with the Riyadh Season events in Saudi Arabia.
Kashif verified the claim and found that the video is old and the claim is misleading. Kashif’s team contacted journalist Muhammad Samreen from Jerusalem, who explained that the video shows a scout show performed by scout groups in 2022 on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday, and not recently.
Jalal Taha, the official in the Jerusalem Crescent Scouts group that participated in the show, confirmed to Kashif that the video was old, from two years ago, before the war, and documents the group’s participation in commemorating a religious occasion. He added that since the beginning of the aggression on the Gaza Strip, no scout activity or show has been organized.
Jalal Taha stated that the scouting groups in the video are: “Hilal Al-Quds Club Scouts Group, Al-Issawiya Scouts Group, Sur Baher Club Scouts Group, Sha’lat Al-Quds Scouts Group, Al-Bustan Scouts Group – Silwan, and Kafr Aqab Club Scouts Group.”
Kashif’s team contacted Nabeel Basti from the Jerusalem Flame Scouts group, which also appeared in the video clip, and denied that the scout show was recent and confirmed that the video was from a religious occasion two years ago. He pointed out that the show included only playing national anthems and music.
Jerusalemite Journalist, Atta Jabr, told Kashif that the video is of the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday in Jerusalem in 2022. He confirmed that no scouting activities had been organized for two years, because the Israeli occupation police prevented groups from entering through Damascus Gate in Jerusalem, and the war on the Gaza Strip.
Journalist Rami Al-Khatib from Jerusalem also confirmed that there are no scouts activity or any celebrations in Jerusalem since the beginning of the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
Jerusalem Governorate also published, via its Facebook account on 8/10/2022, a video documenting the celebrations of people in Jerusalem on the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday, peace be upon him, and the launch of the Jerusalem Governorate Scouts in the streets of Jerusalem, passing through Bab al-Amoud and the Palestinian national anthem, and then heading to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
